Root Canal Treatment

Also called endodontics, root canal treatment is used to treat infection in the soft tissue (pulp) at the centre of the tooth. This can be caused by decay, injury or leaky fillings. Root canals are advised by dentists to save the tooth when the other option may be to extract the tooth. It involves removing the nerve and pulp, and cleaning and sealing the tooth. Typically, root canal treatments are done in two stages, over two extended appointments.
